Bye bye the Netherlands! Konnichiwa Nippon!

Friday, July 25, 2025, the taxi is ready, as are our 11 pieces of checked baggage. Like a bunch of pack mules, we move from the taxi to the check-in counter. Fortunately, we have three big little helpers with us!

What a hassle... sending the container ahead of you, still camping yourself, and then forgetting that everything you need for a while also has to go as checked baggage on the plane. Maybe we should have packed suitcases instead of just setting aside everything we needed to take with us. Oh well, it's in there now!

One more quick stop to buy travel bags for the car seats (tip: try out the bags you want to use for this before you actually leave ;-)).

6 suitcases/bags, 1 Nolan camping bed (which is our standard checked baggage on all our trips), a stroller, 3 car seats, a buggy, 2 carry-on suitcases, 2 Jetkids, 5 backpacks, 2 cloth bags—that's how we travel like pack mules!

After a 14-hour flight, we arrive in Tokyo! Long live Jetkids, who made our life on the plane a lot easier.

Konnichiwa Nippon! We're in Japan. The country we'll be calling home for the next few years!

Fortunately, we pass through customs easily and receive our residence cards without too much trouble. The same goes for clearing the 158 items we are bringing into the country (11 as checked baggage and 147 in the container; luckily, we don't have to count all our hand luggage as well ;-)).
